What we collect, and what we don't
Rae's Resumes is a one-person business in San Diego, California. This page says plainly what happens to your information when you use this site — including the two things people ask about most: the resume you upload to the free checker, and the resume you send with an enquiry. They are treated very differently, and the difference matters.

The short version
- The free ATS checker never uploads your resume. It is read and scored inside your own browser. Nothing is sent to us, and nothing is stored on a server.
- The consultation form does send us what you put in it — that is the point of it. It goes to Rae's email and nowhere else.
- We do not sell your information. Not to anyone, for any purpose, ever.
- You can ask us to delete everything we hold about you and we will.
The free ATS checker
When you check a resume on this site, the file is opened and read by code running in your browser. It is not transmitted to Rae's Resumes, and it is not transmitted to anyone else. The score, the findings and the plain text you see are all produced on your own machine.
This is enforced, not just intended: the checker page carries a Content-Security-Policy that blocks the page from sending data anywhere. Your browser applies that rule whether or not we remember to.
Two related things do leave your browser, and neither one carries your resume. The checker downloads keyword data for the occupation you pick. If you use the job-search feature, it sends the occupation codes it matched and the place name you typed, so it can look up live listings and pay data. The resume itself is not part of that request and there is nowhere in it a resume could go.
If you press “Optimize my resume”, the checker carries what it read across to the consultation form so you do not have to retype it. At that point it is held briefly in your own browser's storage and is deleted as soon as the form reads it, or within two hours, whichever comes first. It reaches us only if you then submit the form.
The consultation form
When you book a free consultation we collect what you enter: your name, email address, phone number and location; what you are looking for; your work history, education and certifications if you fill those in; any resume or other file you attach; and, if you came from the checker, the text it read and the keyword gap it found.
That submission is delivered to Rae by email through our hosting provider, Netlify, which processes it on our behalf. We use it to reply to you and to do the work you are asking about. We do not use it for advertising, we do not add you to a mailing list you did not ask for, and we do not pass it to anyone else.
How long we keep it: [Rae to confirm — e.g. “client files for three years after the last piece of work, enquiries that do not become projects for twelve months”]. Whatever the answer, you can ask for deletion sooner and we will do it.
Analytics
We use website analytics to understand which pages are useful and where people get stuck. What that records is behaviour — pages visited, buttons pressed, roughly where in the world the visit came from — and never the contents of your resume.
Two deliberate limits are worth stating. We do not run session recording on any page that handles a resume, because a recording of those pages would be a video of your document. And where the checker reports a score, analytics receives only the band it falls in, never the number and never anything it read.

Your rights in California
Under California law you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. You can also ask us not to sell or share it — though as above, we do not do either. We will not treat you differently for asking.

Children
This site is for adults seeking career services. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this page
If what we do changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. If the change is a significant one, we will say so rather than quietly editing.
